I am in the process of determining a skirting to put around my pier and beam foundation home. I've been looking at metal, but this looks very good. One question, in placing the framing in the ground that you used to attach the bottom of the pickets, did you consider or address termites. I live in Texas. Termites are a problem. My exterminator tells me that wood to ground voids any warranties for termite control.

Would beadboard be a good solution for deck skirting if it was treated properly and ventilation provided?

Rob, Great pics! I too was going to go with decking boards for my skirt and i have been looking around for old decking where someone was either tearing out or replacing. Why I didn't think of fence board is beyond me???? thanks for posting and jarring my brain. Will post some pics in a few weeks when I am finished.

Like many others, I was looking for some information on alternatives to the lattice skirt method. For me, also one that lives on the set of a "Wild Kingdom" show, lattice isn't a good option. I actually had/have a skunk living under my deck and when it sprays inside the house really smells! Currently, installed by the previous owners, my deck has both the thick & and thin lattice, both of which have been easily broken and chewed through. Obviously the previous owners were having animal problems as well. Your site is great and was really helpful!
